The Melbourne Cup is an annual thoroughbred horse racing event conducted as part of the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival. It has occurred every year on the first Tuesday of November at the Flemington racecourse since 1861, leaving it with a very rich legacy in Australian culture.


The 2020 Melbourne Cup was unique as due to coronavirus, no crowds were allowed on the grounds to watch the famous race for the first time in history. Only 1,500 essential workers were allowed on the course in Flemington, Victoria, with trainers watching the race remotely. The event was won by Irish horse Twilight Payment, with Tiger Moth in second and Prince Arran in third.


However, spectators like Olivia Molly Rogers still dressed up for the highly regarded fashion event. Olivia Molly Rogers was the ambassador for Myer’s Fashions on Your Front Lawn, which took the place of the annual Fashions on the Field competition to be accessible during the pandemic. Prizes will still be awarded for the outfits and designers featured in the race day wear, with the winners announced on Oaks Day on the 5th of November.


Olivia Molly Rogers, 28, is best known for being awarded Miss Universe Australia in 2017. Since winning the competition, she has gone on to represent Australian campaigns such as Polished Man, Diamond Exchange, Movember and Liptember. Olivia Molly Rogers has also earned herself hosting gigs for The Project, The Morning Show, and The Today Show. She continues to model and has been featured on the covers of South Australian Style and GC Magazine.


Alongside her modelling success, Olivia Molly Rogers is also a trained speech pathologist and an ambassador for mental health awareness. She is open about her personal struggles with mental illness and encourages other to do the same, sharing about her journey on her Instagram page which has an 160k strong following. Olivia Molly Rogers has previously gone through an eating disorder so is also a strong advocate for body positive messaging. 


Olivia Molly Rogers was born in the city of Adelaide, South Australia, but now resides in Melbourne. In her spare time, Olivia Molly Rogers enjoys painting and has received positive recognition for her artworks.
